Tomato and mozzarella breakfast rolls
A warm roll with tomato and mozzarella is a useful savoury alternative to a sweet breakfast. Briefly toasting the cut surface helps the bread hold up to the tomato. Assemble only what you plan to eat.

Tomato and mozzarella breakfast rolls
Ingredients
How to make it
- Split rolls and brush the cut sides lightly with oil.
- Toast cut-side down in a frying pan over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add mozzarella to the bottom halves and return them to the pan. Cover briefly over low heat for 1 to 2 minutes to soften the cheese.
- Remove from heat, add tomato, basil and pepper, then close the rolls and serve.
Make it work in your kitchen
Drain mozzarella well and pat the tomato slices lightly if very wet. Use pasteurised cheese where appropriate and keep it refrigerated before use. The recipe contains wheat and milk; choose substitutions based on their actual ingredients rather than their appearance.
